Susanna Tumanyan, VSU Acting Rector, introduced the Acting Chief Accountant of the University to the members of the Academic Council at the session of VSU Academic Council. The agenda was approved with five issues.

Margarita Shahverdyan, Head of Quality Assurance Center of VSU, delivered a report on the mechanisms for involving the students, professors and employers in the assessment of higher education quality. M. Shahverdyan, Head of Quality Assurance Center of VSU, mentioned that they should enhance learning efficiency in parallel with active involvement of employers. Mechanisms for encouraging the active participation of the students, professors and employers in the assessment of higher education quality should operate. Asya Harutyunyan, Head of Lifelong Learning Center of VSU, delivered a report on the issues of improving the training of the academic and education support staff of the University. “The Scientific-Educational Programme of Qualification Improvement of VSU Academic Staff with Credit System” that aimed to develop the potential of the academic staff of the University, ensuring continuous improvement of pedagogical and psychological, as well as professional skills, has been developed and put into practice since 2012. The employees of the Lifelong Learning Center of VSU organized the training of University professors with a five-year cycle.

Samvel Aghajanyan, a secretary responsible for the admission of students, delivered a report on the admission results of students with Bachelor's and Master's Degree programmes for the academic year 2019-2020. This year, 407 people applied for full-time study with Bachelor’s Degree programme of VSU. The number of applicants increased by 188 compared to the previous year. 82 out of 91 people who applied for Master's Degree programme for the academic year 2019-2020 were admitted to the University. 137 people applied for part-time study at Vanadzor State University.

Other current issues were also discussed. The issue of recommending for publication the monograph entitled «Высказывание в контексте» written by Zh. Hakobyan, Associate Professor of VSU Chair of Russian Language, Candidate of Philological Sciences, was on the agenda. S. Tumanyan, VSU Acting Rector, decided not to participate in voting.

Kristine Ghazaryan, a lawyer at VSU, delivered a report on the selection and appointment procedure for administrative, educational and supportive, as well as administrative and economic positions of “Vanadzor State University” Foundation. The procedure was approved unanimously.
