The session of VSU Academic Council was chaired by Rustam Sahakyan, the newly-elected Rector of VSU. The quorum was established. First, Rustam Sahakyan, VSU Rector, was interested in the suggestions submitted to the Academic Council, then two applications received from the staff were added to the current issues. The agenda was approved with some changes.

Most of the members of the Academic Council participated in the session remotely due to the emergency situation.

The first issue on the agenda referred to the applications for participation in the two international projects “International Competition of “The Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the RA and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research-2020” of “Support for Joint Scientific Research Projects”. The partakers of the session expressed their opinions on it. The two applications for participation in the international competition were approved by the majority of the members of the Academic Council.

Susanna Tumanyan, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of VSU, introduced the issues of improving the criteria for allocating the number of teaching hours to the partakers of the session. Comparing the digital data, S. Tumanyan, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of VSU, talked about the existing and expected problems, noticing that the term paper, internship, pre-examination consultation and test were included in the number of teaching hours in the classroom at the suggestion of Rustam Sahakyan, VSU Rector. The issue of improving the presented criteria was approved unanimously by the members of the Academic Council.

Rustam Sahakyan, VSU Rector, introduced the suggestions on the establishment, reorganization and liquidation of structural subdivisions to the partakers of the session. Thօse suggestions were also discussed at the session of the Academic Council. Answering the questions received in advance, R. Sahakyan, VSU Rector, assured that the omissions in the scheme were at the center of his attention. In response to the question of Feliks Movsisyan, Head of VSU Chair of History, regarding the unification of the Chairs, R. Sahakyan, VSU Rector, mentioned the indices of the professions recognized in the RA, according to which the divisions were clearly justified and corresponded to the spheres. Rustam Sahakyan, VSU Rector, asked the participants of the session to give priority to the interests of the University at the session of the Academic Council.

Based on the second subparagraph of the 49th point of VSU Charter, which defined the scope of the jurisdiction of the Academic Council, the Academic Council submitted a suggestion to the Board of Trustees on the establishment, reorganization and liquidation of the structural subdivisions of Vanadzor State University. After discussing the project, one of the participants of the session suggested that they should present it for the approval of the Board of Trustees of “Vanadzor State University named after H. Toumanyan” Foundation. That issue was approved unanimously by the members of the Academic Council.

The next issue on the agenda related to the review and improvement of assessment tools of the quality system (assurance, management and assessment). M. Shahverdyan, Head of VSU Quality Assurance Center, delivered a report on it.

The issue of suspending the selection and appointment procedure for administrative, educational and supportive, as well as administrative and economic positions of “Vanadzor State University named after H. Toumanyan” Foundation, and the admission procedure for Master’s degree programme for the academic year 2020-2021 of “Vanadzor State University named after H. Toumanyan” Foundation were approved by the members of the Academic Council.

After introducing the contents of the notes received from V. Yeghiazaryan and H. Melkonyan, VSU employees, Rustam Sahakyan, VSU Rector, suggested that the participants of the session should discuss thօse issues at committee meetings.
