The International Scientific Conference entitled “Echoes of Matevosyan - 3”, which was announced a year ago, was held on the 23rd of May, 2020. The International Scientific Conference is organized on a regular basis. The idea of organizing such kind of conference belongs to Gourgen Khachatryan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor. Taking into account the current situation, the previously announced in-person and remote participation, were exclusively replaced by remote participation. The organization of an online conference was a real challenge for the organizers and participants, but there were no technical problems. Zoom also “loved” Matevosyan.

The participants of the International Scientific Conference were from the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the USA, France, and from the following regions of Armenia: Lori, Yerevan, Gegharkunik, Syunik, Kotayk. All four Chairs of VSU Faculty of Philology partook in the Scientific Conference as well.

The organizers attached great importance to the participation of two employees (Victor Zakharov, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, and Olga Mitrofanova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor), from Saint Petersburg State University in the International Scientific Conference in terms of international academic cooperation.

It was a great honour for all professors to participate in the Scientific Conference together with Alexander Bozhko, the greatest friend of Armenians, who translated the literary works of Hrant Matevosyan into Ukrainian.

The plenary session was chaired by Aren Santoyan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. Rustam Sahakyan, VSU Rector, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and David Matevosyan, the son of Hrant Matevosyan, welcomed the participants of the International Scientific Conference.

The plenary session was followed by work in two sections: Literary Criticism and Linguistics.

The conference was held in a warm and constructive atmosphere, comprising all directions and methodologies of Modern Philology. Before the closing of the conference the participants shared their thoughts with others. As a result, it became clear that the conference aroused many interesting ideas among rapporteurs and listeners, which they intended to implement individually or in collaboration with other specialists.

Both the course of the conference and the post-conference feedback indicate that the conference was a success, thanks not only to the cooperation of the Conference Organising Committee, but also to the Conference Editorial Board and all the Chairs of the Faculty of Philology. It is also very important that the conference received a warm response from the family of the prominent Armenian writer and scriptwriter Hrant Matevosyan.
